Social work practice and the needs of people who use services should drive the development and use of digital technology.

A report published by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and the British Association of Social Workers (BASW), reveals that social workers want to engage with digital technology.  However, they want it to enable relationship-based practice and improve experiences of people who use services.

Social workers require good digital skills and capabilities to support their complex role.

A wide range of stakeholders – from practitioners and people who use services, to tech developers and educators – have a role to play in supporting the development of digital capabilities.
