Social Work Jobs Dramatherapist - Calderdale Council

Scale PO 3-6 £33,486 - £36,371 (actual salary £20,091 - £21,822 per annum) 22.2 hours (3 days) per week, Contract type: Fixed Term until 31st December 2023

The Victoria Theatre is a large scale performing arts venue, and a key part of Calderdale’s cultural provision. In recent years the Theatre has delivered an innovative and highly successful Dramatherapy Programme for children and young people. The venue is now looking to expand this programme into a 4-day per week service and is seeking a fully-qualified and experienced Dramatherapist to join the theatre team.

The post holder will be required to work autonomously, under the supervision of the Theatre Manager, to deliver a full, professional Dramatherapy Service for groups and some individuals, in line with HCPC and BADth codes of practice. The service will be delivered from a dedicated Dramatherapy Studio in the Victoria Theatre.

The post holder will need to be proactive in liaising with existing and new potential referrers including: Open Minds (formerly CAMHS); South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust, Social Care, Schools and Parents, Carers and Families, in order to generate and manage referrals and treatment plans. The post holder will establish and manage ongoing appointments including assessments, treatment and safe and appropriate endings, writing and maintain clear and professional clinical notes. Clinical work will be evaluated using a range of client appropriate measures.

The successful applicant will be able to work independently as part of a small team, to further establish the Dramatherapy Service provided at the theatre. As a minimum you will be Masters qualified in Dramatherapy, HCPC registered and have experience of establishing and running groups and of working one-to-one with a range of complex presentations.
