Reablement Care and Support Workers
Make Care Matter
Be extraordinary and give someone a new lease of life, it could be the best thing you have ever done!
If someone needs a little bit of support to get back on their feet, a period of reablement can help them get used to doing things for themselves again. Reablement encourages people to regain the skills and confidence they need to carry out daily tasks themselves whilst continuing to live at home.
Shift patterns include a range of early shifts (approx. 7am - 2pm) / late shifts (approx. 2pm - 10pm) and weekend patterns of working every other. The Hambleton South Team covers the Easingwold and Thirsk areas. There are great road links in the area and due to the beautiful countryside, travelling around the locality can be a really lovely experience.
A period of reablement lasts typically for up to 6 weeks and is usually delivered within a person’s own home though can sometimes be delivered in other settings such as day centres. The care you provide will be as diverse as the people you will be supporting therefore a broad working knowledge of a spectrum of conditions and best practice is required. You will play a pivotal role in enabling each individual to achieve their personal goals and regain their health and independence. Through your passion and commitment you’ll be helping people to see what’s possible and supporting them to achieve things they thought were impossible.
|Hours per-week||1 x 31.5 hours per week, 1 x 32 hours per week, and 1 x 30 hours per week|
|Salary||Up to £9.50 per hour (plus typically 5% for weekend working) plus 0.42ppm mileage allowance and a range of financial employee benefits.|
With proven experience in a social care or related field, you will have the ability to plan and implement day to day changes with support where needed. You must also have the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload and work on your own initiative to find solutions for routine problems.
If you do not already hold the Level 2 in Health and Social Care or the QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care, that isn’t a problem! All we ask is for your commitment to study the qualification with full support and training from us to help you to develop. Staff development is important to us so we will also pay for you to complete it via our apprenticeship training route.
Maintaining dignity, choice and control, respecting human rights and maximising the independence and wellbeing of those you support is the core of your role. The ability to communicate, interact and relate to different people is key – one of the benefits of the role is the variety and diversity of the people you will meet and work with including relatives, friends, and other professionals from Health and Voluntary sector.
There is an element of flexibility required for the role and as part of a 7 day service, on a rota basis, you will be required to work some evenings and weekends for which we will pay an enhancement. We could help you to achieve a better work life balance, perhaps enabling you to pursue other employment, hobbies or interests outside of work.
In between visits, we have a variety of establishments available in the patch where you can take comfort breaks and carry out other tasks such as training, correspondence, progress reports etc, as well as accessing support which you may need from managers and colleagues. We are also supported with modern technology to help our work.
